Linguru was originally designed as "ad-ware" or software which is supported by sponsor messages displayed in a banner advertisement within the software. This revenue model has failed many companies including Linguru for a variety of reasons. Linguru survived the "dot com meltdown" of 2001 because we are focused on the quality our software and services and did not feel it appropriate to take investor's money for such a speculative venture. As a result, three years of hard work have resulted in a great product for you, but no income or funding for us.

We will continue to offer free, high quality dictionaries and communication services in an increasing number of languages. To do so, we appreciate your continued support by using the product and continuously improving and expanding the dictionaries. We do not have the resources to write dictionaries in all the many small languages of the world, but we do give you the opportunity to share a Linguru is also re-tooling to focus on value-added products such as a greatly expanded version of the English dictionary available for a nominal fee.
